Academic Coaching

It is a one-on-one interaction with a student focusing on strengths, goals, study skills, engagement, academic planning, and improving academic performance. They help students stay on track during their first year (G.E.) Math and English classes by applying useful skills to navigate and succeed in college.

We support students with:

  • time management skills
  • planning
  • goal-setting
  • organization
  • motivation
  • connecting to resources
  • studying tips

Expected Graduation: May 2020

Hello, I am an international student from Kenya, a country located in East Africa. In 2017, I earned my undergraduate degree from Southeastern University, located in Florida. I have lived the American college experience and know its ups and downs. I am excited for this new chapter in my life due to knowledge and cultural enrichment. Some of my hobbies are writing music and playing various instruments.

Master of Science in Information Systems

Expected Graduation: May 2020

I am an international student currently in the M.S. in Information Systems program. I graduated from Anna University, India with a Bachelor of Technology degree in Information Technology.

The journey as an International student fine-tuned my skills and attitude with a wide cultural diversity. My academic experience throughout persuaded me to help students find success in their academics.  I am very proud of my mom who made me realize that success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do.

Master of Arts in Education, Educational Foundations

Expected Graduation: May 2020

Hi my name is Ios and I am a first-generation Latina college student currently in the M.A. in Education (Option in Educational Foundations) program. Prior to CSULA, I graduated from CSU Dominguez Hills with a B.A. in Sociology and a Minor in Women Studies. In the future, I hope to support students in higher education find success in their academic journey and eventually enact policy change to address the needs of first-generation, low-income, students of color. When I feel overwhelmed, watching movies with my family and spending time with my 2 dogs helps me unwind.
