Immigration Issues and Resources

Message from the President

Dear University Community:

In recent months, the federal government has increased immigration enforcement and initiated executive orders that have been unsettling and frustrating for our students, faculty, and staff.

Some are concerned about the practical implications of these federal actions for themselves and for their loved ones. There should be no doubt, however, about where the University stands on this issue. Cal State LA is a diverse community, united by mutual respect for all people regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, or immigration status, and we will not support measures or initiatives that target or cast suspicion on any group. We reject divisiveness, racism, and religious bias.

The University is home to more than 1,200 international students and many Dreamers whose presence enriches our campus. Cal State LA is a welcoming and inclusive community that prizes learning, critical inquiry, and social justice

We are united with others in the CSU who share our commitment. We encourage you to remain informed and engaged with current issues. Our Immigration Issues and Resources website provides communications, articles, links to resources, and a list of upcoming events.

Sincerely,

Bill Covino
President
