These pages provide all the necessary resources for preparing and submitting the master's thesis, report of master's project, or doctoral dissertation to the University. It includes information about deadlines, style and format regulations, procedures for the review and approval of documents, steps for electronic submission, dates and registration information for workshops, and more.
It is strongly recommended that all students and faculty advisors engaged in the preparation of a master's thesis, master's project, or doctoral dissertation become thoroughly familiar with the contents of these guidelines before preparing the document.
Electronic theses, projects, and dissertations (ETD) are made available online to the campus community. Candidates will submit their ETDs online in Portable Document Format (PDF), utilizing the ProQuest ETD Administrator. Submitted ETDs are maintained in the Cal State LA Library Digital Repository.
Summer 2017 Deadlines
Unless enrolled in other coursework, candidates must enroll in UNIV 9000 if they intend to file the thesis or dissertation during summer. In addition, candidates completing the thesis or dissertation during summer must have each member of their committee email Dr. Karin Elliott Brown, Dean of Graduate Studies (firstname.lastname@example.org) and copy Andrea Gutierrez, GRC Coordinator (email@example.com) to confirm that all committee members have agreed to advise during summer. Please be aware that faculty are not required to advise graduate students during the summer term.
