Position:

DIVISION OF INTERCOLLEGIATE ATHLETICS

Assistant Coach, Throws.  We are seeking to fill a limited assignment part time, seasonal track and field position in the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics.  Required area of specialty must include all throws.  Subsequent appointments are based on merit and program needs.  The Division of Intercollegiate Athletics regularly hires part-time coaches in the areas of Basketball, Track & Field/Cross Country, Soccer, Tennis, Volleyball and Baseball.  We seek to expand the pool from which we consider persons for these positions.  Coaches selected from this pool are hired on conditional contracts to coach in a given academic year.  These contracts are conditioned on continued adequate budgetary support.  Appointment in subsequent academic years is possible, but not guaranteed.

August 2017

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required, physical education or related field preferred. Demonstrated successful coaching experience at the collegiate, high school, or club levels. Commitment to the academic and athletic success of the student-athlete. Good communication skills and administrative abilities necessary. Demonstrated ability and/or interest in working in a multi-ethnic, multicultural environment.  Must possess or be eligible to obtain a valid California driver license.

Duties:

Serve as assistant coach for an NCAA Division II program. The University belongs to the CCAA Conference. Under the direction of the head coach the assistant coach will assist in the promotion of the program. Responsibilities include, overseeing all throwing events for practices and competition.  Assisting the Head Coach with competitions, traveling, and home meets.  Assist with the organization and management of the men’s & women’s track & field program.  Assists with recruitment of student-athletes, admission, registration, the academic advisement of student-athletes and class progress of student-athletes.  Participate in scouting activities. Assist with budget, scheduling and travel arrangements.  The Assistant Coach is responsible for enforcement of institutional, conference, and NCAA regulations relevant to CSULA Intercollegiate Athletics.

Salary:

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
