Position:

Graduate Assistant for Strength and Conditioning Coach – School of Kinesiology and Nutritional Science/Division of Athletics

Starting Date:

Beginning Fall semester 2017 and on-going

Minimum Qualifications:

Degree-seeking graduate student in the School of Kinesiology and Nutritional Science: graduate assistants must be registered in a CSU graduate degree program and must be enrolled in courses towards the completion of that graduate degree during the appointment period.  Applicants should have the ability to relate well to others within the academic environment, and demonstrate ability and/or interest in working in a multiethnic, multicultural environment.

The applicant must be motivated to foster the athletic capacities of student-athletes, possess a high desire to pursue a Strength and Conditioning career in collegiate/professional sports, and be able to adhere to the rules and regulations of California State University, Los Angeles, the CCAA, and the NCAA.

CPR/AED; one or more of the following certifications: SCCC, CSCS, ASCA-2 or UKSCA; and one or more of the following certifications: USAW, AWF, or BWL

Preferred Qualifications:

Undergraduate degree in exercise science or related field and 1-2 years of Strength and Conditioning experience.

Duties:

Under the general supervision of the faculty member, the Graduate Assistant will design, implement, schedule and conduct strength and conditioning programs for 3-4 NCAA II sports. In addition, this position will assist with the daily operation and maintenance of the strength facilities, assist in the strength & conditioning program with other sports and complete other duties as assigned by the Head Coach.  The selected candidate will also assist in the teaching of up to 6 units per semester within the School of Kinesiology and Nutritional Science. Teaching responsibilities will be assigned based on experience and/or School of Kinesiology and Nutritional Science needs.

Salary:

Current Graduate Assistant rate for an average of 20 hours per week.
